Grinch Christmas Game Ideas – Grinch-themed Christmas games add a playful, mischievous twist to any holiday gathering! Fun ideas include “Steal the Christmas Gifts,” where players take turns swapping or stealing presents, just like the Grinch would. Another favorite is “Pin the Heart on the Grinch,” a festive spin on the classic party game where players try to place a tiny heart on a Grinch poster while blindfolded. You could also set up a “Grinch Scavenger Hunt,” hiding green-colored or Grinch-themed items around the house or yard for players to find.
For a hilarious challenge, try “Grinch Freeze Dance,” where everyone dances to Christmas music and freezes when the music stops — if you move, you’re out! Even simple crafts like making Grinch slime or decorating green cupcakes can turn into a friendly competition. Whether it’s for kids, teens, or adults, Grinch games bring laughter, teamwork, and a little bit of holiday mischief to the celebration!

Players dance around the space.

When the music stops, players must immediately freeze in place.
-
If someone moves while frozen, they are out.
-
Last player dancing wins.
3. Pin the Heart on the Grinch
Objective: Pin a paper heart on a poster of the Grinch, as close to the right spot as possible.
Steps:
-
Hang a large poster of the Grinch on the wall.
-
Blindfold one player at a time and spin them around 2–3 times.
-
Hand them a paper heart with tape on the back.
-
Player tries to stick the heart on the Grinch’s chest.
-
Closest heart to the correct spot wins.
4. Grinch Tag
Objective: A twist on traditional tag where the “Grinch” tries to tag the Whos.
Steps:
-
Pick one player to be the “Grinch” and the others are “Whos.”
-
Mark a play area with boundaries.
-
At “Go!”, the Grinch tries to tag the Whos.

Tagged Whos either sit out, become Grinches too, or freeze until freed by another Who.
-
Last Who standing wins.
5. Grinch Sack Race
Objective: Hop to the finish line inside a sack, Grinch-style!
Steps:
-
Give each player a green sack or pillowcase.
-
Line everyone up at the start line.

On “Go!”, players must hop inside their sacks toward the finish line.
-
First one across wins.
-
Optional: players must “Grinch-growl” while hopping for fun!
6. Snowball Toss at the Grinch
Objective: Hit a Grinch target with fake snowballs.
Steps:

-
Give players soft snowballs (white plush balls or crumpled paper).

Players stand behind a throwing line.
-
Each player gets a set number of throws to try and hit the Grinch.
-
Keep score for hits or have elimination rounds.
7. Grinch Hat Relay
Objective: Balance a Grinch hat while racing.
Steps:
-
Each team gets a green Grinch hat (Santa hat with a twist).
-
First player places the hat on their head and races to a designated spot and back.
-
If the hat falls off, the player must stop, fix it, and then continue.
-
After returning, hand the hat to the next player.
-

8. Decorate the Grinch Relay
Objective: Dress up a “Grinch” using decorations in a race.
Steps:

One player at a time races to grab an item and decorates their Grinch.

Keep rotating until time is up or all items are used.
-
Best decorated Grinch wins, or the fastest team to finish.
